Wine Enthusiast

This rich, full wine shows the chateau to be at the top of its form. It's finely balanced, pushing both its fruit and acidity, with the tannins taking the supporting role. With its power leashed, this shows the stylish side of Saint-Julien, although it will certainly age for many years.

VertdeVin

Medium/full-bodied, elegant, vibrant, silky, and fresh, the estate's refined character shines through here. The flowers, cherries, mocha, leafy tobacco, and spice on the nose prepare you for all the sweet, juicy currants and plums on the palate, leaving you with a long, fruit-packed finish showcasing the wine's purity and energy. Close, but not quite ready, drink from 2025-2045.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Branaire-Ducru starts off just a little bit tired, with roasted nut, balsamic and stewed plum notions giving way to hints of dusty soil, sautéed herbs and dried mulberries. Full-bodied, the palate has a good amount of dried berry flavors with a chewy texture and stewed tea notes on the finish.

James Suckling

A layered young red with lots of black olives and berries on the nose. Full body, with velvety and chewy tannins. It all comes together at the end with a lovely sweet fruit.

Druvor

64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot & 3% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting note

'The nose is elegant, racy, beautifully built and offers power (full of control), a beautiful finesse of the grain, intensity (full fo finesse), deepness and a good definition. It reveals notes of quite ripe wild blackberry, lily, quite ripe raspberry and small notes of wild cassis associated with touches of Sichuan pepper, nutmeg, small ripe berries as well as hints of clove, a racy minerality, a subtle hint of tea, spices and a discreet hint of pink pepper. The palate is mineral, elegant, beautifully fresh and offers delicacy, power (full of control), energy, a good guideline and a very fine aerial side in the approach. On the palate this wine expresses notes of quite ripe wild blackberry, pulpy raspberry and small notes of quite ripe cherry associated with touches of pulpy/juicy cassis, violet, lily as well as hints of cardamom, mild tobacco, almond, discreet hints of toasted, tonka bean, very discreet/imperceptible hints of underwood and very subtle hints of pepper/tea. Good length. Tannins are elegant, fine, precise and very finely firm which offer justness. A beautiful persistence.'
