Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2016 Cos Labory has a pleasant, almost nonchalant bouquet with blackberry, briary and pressed flower aromas. It just needs a little more delineation. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, finer tannins than I found in the 2015 last year, with a harmonious, if not awfully complex finish. Yet, I can see this Saint-Estephe giving pleasure over the next decade or so.
James Suckling
Plenty of plum and smoke on this rather broad St.-Estèphe and there’s just enough character and structure to hold it on track. Soft finish. Drink or hold.
VertdeVin
The nose is elegant, structured, racy and offers concentration, deepness as well as a racy minerality. It reveals notes of blackberry, crunchy strawberry and more slightly cassis, violet associated with small touches of cherry as well as discreet hints of nutmeg, spices and a very discreet hint of pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, juicy, crunchy and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful juiciness/gourmandize, an acidulous frame, a fine creaminess, a small aerial side as well as suavity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy cassis, juicy blackberry and more slightly juicy raspberry associated with small touches of juicy/crunchy cherry, hints of violet, liquorice / zan as well as discreet hints of tonka bean, toasted and a very discreet hint of sweet spices. Chews on the finish. There is a very discreet hint of caramelization/Bourbon vanilla on the finish/persistence.
