Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2018 Cos Labory has a deep garnet-purple color, bursting from the glass with bold notes of warm cassis, blackberry compote and Morello cherries, plus suggestions of roses, unsmoked cigars and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate has a very sturdy frame of firm, grainy tannins and tons of freshness supporting the rather delicately played fruit, finishing long and earthy/minerally. The structure stands out a little now, which I enjoy, but for those preferring softer, rounder expressions, give this a good 3-5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 15-20 years.
James Suckling
Aromas of blackberries and blueberries with cloves, graphite and dark chocolate. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tight-grained tannins. Sleek and refined with an austere, mineral finish. But polished texture. Better from 2024.
VertdeVin
The nose is elegant, racy and offers intensity as well as concentration. It reveals notes of cassis, lilac, lily, small notes of rose, wild blackberry associated with touches of wild strawberry as well as hints of a saline/iodine minerality. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers minerality, suavity, energy as well as a small mineral frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy cassis, small bright black berries, small notes of violet, cornflower associated with touches of cherry, small bright wild red berries as well as hints of liquorice stick, bergamot, toasted, a subtle hint of tobacco and a very discreet hint of chocolate. Tannins are precise, elegant and very discreetly firm. Good length. Sapidity and a very fine/good bitterness on the finish/persistence.
