Tasted at the Sauternes 2006 ten-year on horizontal in Bordeaux. The 2006 Coutet has plenty of quince and marmalade scents on the nose, a subtle nuttiness underneath, perhaps a touch of passion fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with harmonious citrus-fresh peach and quince notes. This is very harmonious and focused, driven by a killer line of acidity, and the finish exudes tension and precision. This is a great Barsac from the Coutet team and it will deliver pleasure for many years yet. Tasted April 2016.

Tasting note
'The nose is elegant, racy and offers a fine minerality as well as a fine concentration (in the background). It reveals notes of dried lemon, citrus and quince combined with hints of beeswax, dried orange zest, exotic fruits, nutmeg as well as fine touches of roasted pineapple, oak, spices and an imperceptible hint of pepper in the background (after aeration). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, complex, racy and offers a fine unctuosity, a fine fat, a certain finesse, a good structure, a fine tension as well as a mineral frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of candied lemon, marmalade and slight notes of dry apricot associated with touches of flat peach in syrup, yellow plum in syrup, candied mandarin zest as well as a touch of physalis, beeswax, gingerbread, nutmeg and an imperceptible hint of caramelization. Good length and beautiful persistence.'
