Wine Enthusiast
There's a big amount of acidity that flows from the black-currant flavors on this wine. Brisk fruitiness contrasts with a dry, dense structure, while a richer center is missing. hint of bourbon vanilla and bergamot. A discreet hint of salinity in the background.
VertdeVin
The nose is fruity and offers a certain intensity/concentration, a fine floral side as well as a fine spicy side. There are notes of creamy blackberry, crushed raspberry and more slightly of violet combined with delicate touches of iris, cherry blossom, Cuben pepper as well as discreet vanilla and a subtle hint of blond tobacco. The palate is fruity and offers freshness, minerality, a juicy/acidic structure, good definition, a certain gourmandise, tension, precision, a discreet straightness, dynamism and fat. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/fresh raspberry, juicy/fresh cherry and, more slightly, tart/fresh blackberry, combined with hints of violet plum, fine points of lily, iris, nutmeg, toasted hazelnut and a subtle hint of bourbon vanilla and bergamot. A discreet hint of salinity in the background.

Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 2012 Château Dauzac, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, is a little more rustic than the 2011: more undergrowth scents here, complemented by mint and violet. The palate is medium-bodied, missing a little depth on the entry with the fruit not quite as ripe as the 2011, and it feels a little curtailed on the finish. Maybe this was one vintage of Dauzac where I was hoping for a little more.
