VertdeVin
The nose is fruity, quite fine, gourmand and elegant. It reveals slight notes of fresh/ripe blackberry and ripe/fresh wild fruits associated with slight notes of fresh/ripe strawberry as well as discreet hints of licorice/zan and a discreet hint of cardamom. The palate is fruity, juicy, nicely built and offers a nice freshness, a slight acid frame, gourmandise, a nice structure as well as a slight unctuosity. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fresh/ripe blackberry, fresh/ripe sour cherry, raspberry and slight notes of small fresh red fruits associated with a discreet hint of licorice, chocolate as well as slight hints of cardamom. Tannins are fine, slightly polished and well-built. Good length. The finish is slightly gourmande.
Wine Enthusiast
Situated in one of the northern sectors of Margaux, this estate was created in the 13th century. This sumptuous wine has enormous power that is mitigated by the taut, mineral texture and black-currant flavors. It is a finely wrought wine that will take time to age. Drink from 2024.
Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 La Tour de Mons gives cassis, redcurrants, dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and rock aromas on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, tart and chewy with an earthy finish.
