With noticeable oak, licorice, jam, smoke and ripe, black and blue fruits, this rich, concentrated, supple wine, produced from a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot ends with a rich, chocolate coated, blackberry, coffee and licorice finish. I like the wine. But I'd like to see a little less oak.

Sweet and perfumed, modern fruit and fine spices, yet with elegance and finesse, very full and concentrated with soft extraction and velvety mouth feel, layers of dark fruit, blackcurrant, blackberry, minerals and a truly long lingering finish.

Gilbert & Gaillard

Beautiful dense red, still in its youth. Expressive nose still marked by oak presence coupled with lovely intense ripe red fruit. On the palate, a rich, silky and full wine starting to fully deliver its power. Poised for a great future.

The nose is powerful, solar and racy. It reveals notes of blackberry, crushed raspberry and slight notes of fleshy strawberry associated with a hint of violet, a very discreet hint of black cherry, wood and a subtle hint of sweet spices / vanilla and a subtle toasted hint. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a nice mineral frame, a slight freshness, a beautiful matter, fleshiness, a good density as well as a slight acidity (in the background). On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry, black cherry, ripe berries and crushed raspberry combined with touches of coffee, wood, sweet spices, cardamom and a very subtle hint of undergrowth. Tannins are well-built. Good length.

The medium to deep garnet colored 2009 Lascombes reveals notes of stewed plums, baked blackberries and dried mulberries with touches of sweaty leather, raisin cake and hoisin. Full-bodied with a rugged, chewy frame, the mid-palate gives a good core of earth-laced fruit, finishing a little rustic.

James Suckling

Very balsamic with slightly chewy tannins, this is a rustic expression of the vintage that needs substantial food to give its best. Plenty of freshness at the finish though.
