Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
Deep in color, with just a bit of swirling you find flowers, mint-leaves, black currants, plums, and cherry aromatics. On the palate, the wine is silky, creamy, and fresh. The fruits are sweet, energetic, and long. There is purity in the berries, length and elegance. The fruit produces an impact on the palate that lingers, building in intensity in the finish. The end notes get even better as you find a touch of peppery spice, mint, and chocolate-covered plums. The wine blends 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. 3.65 pH. The harvest took place September 15 - October 4. Yields were only 22 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2026-2055.
Falstaff
A dark ruby red, an opaque core, purple hues, a light ochre rim. Fresh black forest berries, a hint of liquorice, subtle fresh herbs, candied mandarin orange zest, some bourbon vanilla. Juicy, fresh, red cherries, ripe tannins, mineral-salty on the finish, finely spiced on the finish, lively, good with food, with a hint of ginger in the aftertaste, in a racy style. (

Tasting note
The Marquis d'Alesme Becker is from the lieu-dit Les Terrasses de Margaux. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, and it has 14.5% alcohol. It was aged for 18 months in 65% new and 35% two-year-old barrels. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs considerable swirling to unlock notes of ripe blackcurrants, wild blueberries and Morello cherries, plus suggestions of violets, star anise, underbrush and Sichuan pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energy, featuring loads of red and black fruit preserves layers and a finely grained texture, finishing long and mineral tinged.
