VertdeVin
The nose is fine, fresh, concentrated (but well-balanced) and offers a slight gourmandise. It reveals notes of ripe morello cherry, fresh/ripe blackberry and slight notes of fresh/ripe strawberry associated with a discreet hint of raspberry, slight notes of licorice as well as a discreet hint of grey pepper and a subtle woody hint. The palate is fruity, juicy, well-balanced and offers fat, a slight freshness, a good racy minerality, a slight gourmandise, a slight unctuosity, a beautiful structure as well as a good volume. It’s powerful, concentrated but (very) well-balanced. A beautiful and well-structured wine. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fresh/ripe blackberry, cassis and slight notes of wild strawberry, hot gravels (terroir) associated with hints of redcurrant, oak, spices as well as slight notes of licorice stick and a discreet hint of coffee. Tannins are fine and polished. Good length. A beautiful wine!
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2016 Meyney has quite an opulent and flamboyant bouquet, which is something I do not expect from this Saint Estèphe. It seems to calm down in the glass and attains more delineation and poise. The palate is sweet on the entry with impressive precision, quite linear in style with blackberry, graphite and smoky notes, leading to a finish that offers satisfying persistence. Excellent.
