VertdeVin
The nose is elegant, fresh, precise, aromatic and offers deepness as well as complexity. It reveals notes of fleshy/crushed Boysen berry, blueberry and small notes of fleshy/juicy cherry associated with small touches of crushed strawberry, violet, cardamom as well as very fine hints of chocolate, tea, spices, a very discreet hint of liquorice, camphor, a saline minerality, an imperceptible hint of lilac and fresh nutmeg. After decanting, this wine evolves slowly, revealing delicate hints of truffle/undergrowth and toasted almond. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, well-built, racy and offers a juicy/acidulous frame, gourmandize, tension, a very beautiful finesse, a certain power (in finesse), concentration, a very fine creaminess (in finesse) and tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy black blackberry, cherry and small notes of small ripe black fruits associated with small touches of raspberry, strawberry as well as hints of chocolate, tonka bean, cardamom, spices, a discreet hint of clove, fresh lilac, tea and a very discreet hint of grilled hazelnut. Tannins are elegant and delicate. A persistence on 20 caudalies with discreet hints of hazelnut and caramelization.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Tasted at the Château Palmer vertical in London, the estate team regard the 2010 Château Palmer as their best since the 1983. This showing did nothing to suggest otherwise. It offers stunning precision on the nose: incredibly fresh and vibrant with the same spine-tingling level of mineralité as the 2005. What they both share is a Pauillac-like graphite seam that runs from start to finish. Like the 2005, there is a beguiling symmetry here, more focused and linear than the sumptuous 2009, yet with sensational length that makes you wonder what on Earth it will taste like in another 10-15 years. I would keep this in your cellar for another decade at least and it may well merit a higher score down the line. Tasted May 2015.
Unprecedented. From December to July, incessant rains provoked the development of mildew. Then, during a hot, dry summer, the vines focused all their energy into the remaining grapes. Their power and concentration finally reached an exceptional level. In the winery, all of this led to an unprecedented decision: every lot would be selected for the blending of Château Palmer… Extraordinary.'
