A solid 2014 with firmThe 2014 Pédesclaux has a tightly wound bouquet with redcurrant and crushed strawberry fruit, cedar and cigar box aromas filtering through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, plenty of black fruit laced with cedar and black pepper, though it does not quite deliver the complexity that I think the 2015 will on the finish. Still, it is a very capable vintage from the rejuvenated château that is certainly going places in the same way that Pontet-Canet did in the 1990s. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

A solid 2014 with firm and silky tannins that give the wine tightness and focus. Full body. Lovely fruit and a flavorful finish. Racy and focused. Drink after 2024.

The nose is fruity, elegant, powerful and racy. It reveals notes of cassis cream, blackberry and slight touches of blueberry, cherry, raspberry associated with notes of spices as well as hints of Sichuan pepper and slight hints of toasted oak. The palate is fruity, juicy, round, relatively gourmand, elegant, a bit fleshy and offers a beautiful fat, an acid frame, a good definition as well as a small racy minerality. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry, plum and black cherry associated with small notes of raspberry, chocolate, caramel as well as fine touches of wood and spices. Tannins are fine and well-built. Good length.
