VertdeVin
The nose is fruity, fresh and offers a small crunchiness. It reveals notes of crushed redcurrant crunchy wild raspberry and small notes of racy minerality associated with very fine touches of lily, fresh violet as well as hints of grey pepper/Sichuan pepper and a very discreet hint of fresh nutmeg. The mouth is fruity, well-balanced, fresh and offers a good definition, gourmandize, elegance and suavity. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy raspberry, fleshy/juicy wild strawberry and small notes of juicy blackberry associated with fine touches of violet, small red berries associated with fine touches of chocolate, toasted, nutmeg and discreet hints of hazelnut. Good length and a beautiful persistence on notes of tonka bean.
Druvor
64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot & 3% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting note
'Château Branaire-Ducru is located in the heart of the Medoc, between Margaux and Pauillac in the Saint-Julien appellation area. It is surrounded by the other great Classified Growths that populate this outstanding terroir. The vines grow in a mixture of gravel and pebbles, deposited there by the River Garonne in the Quaternary Period. From the top of their hillocks, called “mounds”, they overlook the vast Gironde Estuary, locally referred to as “the river”. The vineyard is made up of around fifteen different micro-terroirs and covers 60 hectares (nearly 150 acres) that lie from East to West across the Southern part of the appellation area. The average age of the vines is 35 years. They grow in quaternary silicious and gravel alluvium, which makes this terroir one of the warmest in the region. As a result, our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes achieve perfect phenolic ripeness here, while the Merlot flourishes on beds of clay.'
