Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2016 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is made up of 77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It has a deep garnet-purple color and opens with youthful notes of crushed red and black plums, cherries and blackberries with touches of chocolate mint and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of juicy red and black fruits, framed by soft tannins and finishing with a minty lift.
James Suckling
Deep, dark and rich fruit, from plums to berries. Full bodied, layered, dense and very rich. Best after 2022.
VertdeVin
The nose is fruity , spicy and aromatic . It reveals notes of cherry, red berries and more slightly varietals associated with small touches of pepper , crunchy small fruits as well as discreet hints of bell pepper. The palate is juicy (beautiful juiciness), fruity, fresh and offers minerality, a beautiful acidulous frame, a good structure as well as gourmandize. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crunchy cherry and crunchy/acidulous red berries associated with small touches of flowers, crunchy blueberry, crunchy/juicy blackberry as well as small/fine touches of liquorice and an imperceptible hint of toasted/cardamom. Good persistence.
Druvor
77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting note
'Located in the northern reaches of the Médoc, where breezes regulate temperatures during hot spells and allow fruit to maintain freshness, the vineyard is particularly adapted to growing Merlot grapes. In perfect harmony with the estate’s terroir, Merlot is key in creating a smooth, supple, seductive wine that is fruity yet pure.'
