The nose is nicely concentrated, powerful and gourmand. It reveals notes of fresh fruits, strawberry, blackberry, cherry, black cherry and flowers (including iris) associated with notes of blond tobacco as well as a touch of gray pepper and Zan. The palate is fruity, round, well structured and offers a nice tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe black fruit, juicy fruit (blackcurrant, plum flesh) associated with hints of red fruits as well as touches of pepper, spices, licorice, toasted touches and vanilla on the finish. Good length.

The Fiefs de Lagrange 2014 has a light, slightly tinny bouquet with bright red cherries and a touch of blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, pretty and rather earthy red berry fruit with a tart, peppery finish. This is easy-drinking but well made Saint Julien to enjoy over four or five years.
