A wine that should not be missed when it comes on the market is the 1996 Pavillon Blanc. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, it is a concentrated, crisp wine with natural alcohol of nearly 14%. One of the most intense Pavillon Blancs I have ever tasted, it should provide glorious drinking during its first decade of life, although it will last much longer. I have seen these wines offered for approximately $38-$46 per bottle.

'After an extremely hot and dry summer, the grapes reached an excellent level of ripeness and were able to be picked, in part, before the heavy rain of mid-September. The grapes picked immediately afterwards were of course perfectly ripe, but slightly diluted. It was an excellent vintage of Pavillon Blanc, the most powerful since 1989. The 1995 Pavillon Blanc has now reached a perfect level of evolution. It is reaching its peak, but there should be no urgency to drink it.'

Varm, torr sommar resulterade i tidig skörd av friska Merlotdruvor. Relativt tanninrik Cabernet Sauvignon plockades efter en vecka med regn i mitten av september. Generösa skördenivåer, bäst i Pomerol och Pauillac.
