VertdeVin
The nose is fruity, elegant and offers power, a fine intensity, a fine grain as well as elegance. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis and small notes of wild strawberry associated with fine touches of liquorice, gray pepper, spices and very slight toasted hints. The palate is fruity, mineral and offers suavity, a mineral/slightly acidulous frame as well as freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy cassis, juicy blackberry and small notes of juicy/fresh raspberry associated with fine touches of cornflower/flowers, hints of fresh/juicy small fruits as well as very slight toasted hints, tonka bean and spices. Tannins are well-built and structuring.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Le Carillon d'Angélus is very deep purple-black in color and features a lovely core of crushed black cherries, blackberries and blueberries with touches of violets and cedar chest plus a waft of cinnamon stick. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and fresh with soft tannins and plenty of juicy fruit, finishing on a peppery note.
James Suckling
Beautiful, ripe and sweet fruit on the nose with plums and hints of cedar and vanilla. Extremely floral, too. Medium body, creamy and refined tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Shows lovely balance and harmony for the vintage. A blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Second wine of Château Angélus. Drink after 2022.
