James Suckling
Sure pure fruit to this red with a minerality and floral undertone. You can smell the warm stones. Full body, with a beautiful depth of fruit and velvety tannins. Dense and balanced. Layered with a light salty and meaty character as well. Great length. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine Enthusiast
This is an architectural wine, very classical in its structure like so many of the top wines of 2010. It's powered by ripe tannins and beautiful black currant fruits. While the wine is gorgeously ripe, it also has a powerful dark and structured character. For long-term aging.
Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
Blending 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot produced a tannic, rich, powerful wine that expresses earth, forest floor, tobacco, blackberry, cassis and spice. Fresh, tannic and balanced, give this 10-15 years to soften, open and develop.
VertdeVin
The nose is elegant, racy and offers a certain intensity as well as a fine grain. It reveals notes of black cherry/griotte, Boysen berry and small notes of quite ripe strawberry associated with touches of juicy/ripe plum, violet as well as hints of racy minerality, cardamom, almond, a discreet hint of Badiane and tobacco. The palate is fruity, beautifully juiciness, full of freshness and offers gourmandize, a fine acidulous frame, gourmandize, a small tension, concentration, density, a fine fleshiness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy raspberry, blueberry and small notes of cassis associated with touches of small red berries associated with touches of violet tobacco, nutmeg as well as hints of racy minerality, a subtle hint of camphor, cuben pepper, an imperceptible hint of humus and zan (in the background). Tannins are well-built. Good length.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Calon-Ségur opens with herbal wafts of bay leaves and bouquet garni over a core of warm redcurrants, black cherry compote and warm cassis with touches of damp soil and moss-covered tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate has firm, chewy tannins and lively acid supporting the herb-laced fruit, finishing a little hard and tart.
Druvor
82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot.
