Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Medium to deep garnet-purple, the 2017 Meyney opens a little broody, giving way to red cherries, black berries and stewed tea scents with a waft of dried herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is chock-full of vibrant black fruits with ripe, grainy tannins and a refreshing kick to the finish.
James Suckling
Some quite assertive, ripe dark berries here. The bold, quite rich palate is firm yet fresh with cassis and black-fruit flavors. Lighter, elegant vintage. Drink or hold.
VertdeVin
The nose is aromatic, gourmand and offers a fine richness. It reveals notes of fleshy strawberry, caramelized oak, vanilla and small touches of ripe red berries, blackberry associated with discreet hints of cornflower, minerality as well as an imperceptible hint of spices and an imperceptible hint of Cuben pepper (in the background). The palate is fresh, fruity, well-balanced, precise, clean, net and offers a beautiful definition, a fine mineral frame, a fine freshness, fullness, a fine suavity, precision, a fine tension, a beautiful finesse of the grain, a beautiful guideline as well as straightness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of black cherry, crushed strawberry and more slightly crushed raspberry associated with small touches of vanilla, fleshy/ripe small black fruits, toasted oak, racy/gritty minerality as well as a very discreet hint of graphite (in the background), toasted oak and an imperceptible hint of sugared mild tobacco. Tannins are slightly firm. Good length. Beautiful potential. (2024+)
Druvor
45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, & 11% Petit Verdot.
Tastiing note
'A beautiful wine, well made in this difficult year and confirms the rise in quality of this property year after year. The nose shows ripe black fruits (especially blackberry) associated with toasty and woody notes, and a few notes of spices (roasted coffee, cocoa). The palate is mineral, elegant, well structured and rather complex. It reveals notes of black fruits (majority), ripe currant and cherry combined with spices and woody notes. Good length.'
