Raffaele Vecchione - WinesCritic.com
Absolutely rare and intact in the sensory profile, it shows notes of black plums, blackberries, wild myrtle, orange juice, chopped almonds and jasmine and acacia flowers. Full body, perfectly extracted and refined tannins and a finish of immense joy and sunshine. Balance and character move this vision of Desmirail. Better from 2027.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The 2022 Desmirail confirms my expectations for it during the en primeur tasting. Revealing a complex, elegant bouquet of flowers, dark wild berries, mulberries and spices mingled with delicate notes of sweet berries, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and enrobing with velvety, delicate tannins and a long, ethereal and violet-inflected finish. This blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc is a real success and retains enormous appeal.

Spicy oak, ripe black cherries, and floral nuances emerge from the 2022 Château Desmirail, a medium-bodied, elegant, seamless Margaux offering polished tannins, just about flawless balance, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and well worth seeking out. If it picks up weight with 2-4 years in the cellar, the score will seem low. The 2022 is 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
James Suckling
Smoke, berries, ripe plums, currants, roasted spices and a touch of citrus on the nose. Fluid, poised and nimble on the palate, showing well-judged extraction and fine-grained tannins. Chalky, juicy and pretty long. A bit more approachable than many, but give it one more year. Drink from 2026.

Tasting note
'The nose is fruity, racy and offers a racy minerality, a fine grain and a fine power. It reveals notes of juicy/pulpy blackberry, wild raspberry, small notes of strawberry associated with touches of grey pepper, violet, blueberry, racy minerality as well as fine hints of toasted, fresh tobacco and nutmeg. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a juicy/finely acidulous frame, gourmandize, a good definition, suavity and roundness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy cassis, wild raspberry, small notes of Boysen berry associated with touches of small red fruits/red berries as well as hints of violet, nutmeg, chocolate/tonka bean as well as very discreet hints of spices. Good length. A very discreet hint of toasted/caramelization on the finish/persistence.'
