La Tulipe Rouge
Great wines have this peculiarity: they are evidently of superior quality, but also and especially singular. With 65% Cabernet Franc, this 2023 could not but stand out; it still had to remain Saint-Émilionnais, and grand cru... Almost Chambolle-like in the trait and tannins, almost Ligérien in the acidity, with raspberry and rose fragrances, this Jean Faure has never been so faithful to its origin: broad and deep, long and tannic, it will go far like a grand cru.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate
A blend of 65% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2023 Jean Faure is superb, revealing aromas of cassis, mulberries, lead pencil, dark tea and spices. Medium- to full-bodied, it is lively and harmonious, built around a delicately structured palate that is impeccably balanced, concluding with a long, saline and perfumed finish. In this vintage, it stands as a compelling testament to the virtues of Cabernet Franc.
Jeb Dunnuck
A brilliant Saint-Emilion, the 2023 Château Jean Faure offers fresh raspberries, redcurrants, spring flowers, violets, and spicy wood on the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, graceful mouthfeel, polished, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It should be snatched up by savvy readers and might be the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted. It will keep for two decades. Drink 2026-2046.
Vinous
The 2023 Jean Faure is classy and refined through and through. Strong Cabernet Franc inflections drive through a core of red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and blood orange. Bright and impeccably focused, Jean Faure has so much to offer. It remains one of the most under-the-radar wines on the Right Bank.

This 18-hectare estate occupies an elongated triangle of vineyards next to La Dominique on the Pomerol border. For the most part, there's clay a mere 60 centimeters below the surface, but the tip of the triangle is defined by sandier soils. As a result of a bitter divorce, Jean Faure wasn't replanted to Merlot like so many Saint-Émilion estates were in the 1950s and 1960s, so old-vine Cabernet Franc dominates—and is now the source of a massal selection. Winemaking is gentle, with long but gentle macerations and élevage including foudres as well as barriques.
