The 2015 Lafon Rochet is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, picked between 25 September and 9 October. Matured in 40% to 50% new oak from eight coopers including Stockinger since last year, it has a dense blackberry and boysenberry scented bouquet that is a little more voluptuous than its peers. Very perfumed with blackberries, blueberries and cloves. Dried lavender as well. Full body and linear and refined tannins. Pretty spices come together with the clean fruit at the end. Hard not to drink now but two or three years of bottle age will pull it together.

The nose is fruity, fine and elegant. It reveals notes of blackberry, fine notes of cassis and a touch of flowers associated with a hint of Sichuan pepper, Zan and a discreet touch of Ceylon tea. The palate is fruity, gourmand, well-balanced, elegant, harmonious, sleek, tight and offers a beautiful silky matter, a beautiful fine grain, a certain density, a racy mineral frame, freshness and a certain tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry, black cherry and blackberry candy associated with touches of raspberry as well as a touch of Zan and a discreet hint of menthol (very discreet). Tannins are fine and elegant. Good length and aromatic persistence. The finish is suave. Beautiful potential!
