Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple glints, subtle brightening at the rim. Ripe plum, a touch of fig, subtle nougat, candied orange zest. Sweet and complex, chocolatey, intense style, ripe tannins, very good persistence, definite further maturity and ageing potential for many years to come.

The nose is fresh, fruity, racy and offers a small power as well as a certain intensity. It reveals notes of Boysen berry, cherry, small notes of small crushed red berries, violet associated with small blue fruits, iris, lilac as well as hitns of liquorice, camphor, hazelnut, a very discreet hint of tobacco and vanilla. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, full of precision and offers a juicy/mineral frame, a good definition, a beautiful definition, elegance as well as a beautiful fine/unctuous matter, delicacy and a fine aerial side. On the palate this wine expresses notes of bright cassis, blackberry, small notes of plum associated with touches of raspberry, small red berries as well as discreet hints of nutmeg, vanilla, hazelnut, a very discreet hint of iris, almond and a fresh vanilla pod. Tannins are well-built. An imperceptible saline hint (in the background) and sapidity (on the finish).

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Le Gay has a beautifully perfumed nose of lavender essence, chocolate-covered cherries and preserved plums, leading to a fragrant undercurrent of kirsch, licorice and fertile loam. The concentrated, full-bodied palate (15% alcohol) delivers bold, black fruit flavors with compelling red berry sparks and a plush texture, finishing long with just enough freshness.

Aromas of plums, violets and mushrooms with earthy notes. Fleshy and succulent texture to the full body with round, firm tannins and a salivating, savory finish. Very persistent. Opulent and reserved at the same time. Contrastive wine. Drink after 2025.
