Gilbert & Gaillard
Beautifully dense, this generous, rich wine combines great fruit with a firm but sweet structure. The new wood element is still prominent, but this is now beginning to blend well with the ripe fruit. To finish, the tannins reassert themselves.
VertdeVin
The nose is fresh, racy, very elegant, fineness and a little restraint as well as delicate in the grain. It reveals notes of camphor, bright cherry and more slightly cassis associated with touches of boysenberry, small red berries, ripe / crushed, with fine touch of gun flint, discreet touch of camphor, cherry blossoms as well as discreet hints of toast and spices. On the palate is fruity, balanced, racy and offers minerality, juiciness, an acidic frame, good definition, a certain sapidity, dynamism, elegance, depth as well as a little richness and an character. This wine expresses notes of pulpy/ tangy cherry, redcurrants pulpy/tangy and blackberry associated with touches of violet, fairly ripe black plum, fine hints of camphor, gun flint, a subtle hint of toasted hazelnut as well as a hint of cocoa and toast. Tannins are precise, racy and structuring. Good length.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Léoville Poyferré has one of the most harmonious and complete bouquets from Saint Julien: very well-defined blackberry, briary and chalky scents, real focus and delivery here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, ripe tannin matched with well-judged acidity. Like the 2006 Léoville-Barton, it is stubborn and backward, but there is clearly harmony and focus on the finish, the new oak deftly assimilated in the fabric of the wine. This is a lovely wine from Didier Cuvelier.
