Robert Parker Wine Advocate
A 2,700-case blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc cropped at a low 27 hectoliters per hectare (compare that with 39 hectoliters per hectare in 2009 and 31 in 2010), this superb claret was aged 18 months in 75% new French oak. Mulberry, spring flower, black cherry and raspberry characteristics as well as hints of spice and coffee emerge from this full-bodied, opulent, structured beauty. It should age effortlessly for 15-20 years.
Druvor
94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting note
'The nose is elegant, fruity and offers a fine freshness, a fine power, concentration as well as a very fine grain. It reveals notes of ripe blackberry, ripe wild strawberry and small notes of grey pepper, underwood as well as very fine hints of nutmeg. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a good definition, a fine acidulous frame, tension as well as a beautiful finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy blackberry, very ripe cassis and small notes of underwood associated with fine hints of Tonka bean, clove, underwood and sweet spices. Tannins are elegant, supple and offer a very discreet chew. Good length.'
