Château Quintus 2015

VertdeVin

A blend of 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Quintus has a medium to deep garnet-purple hue, opening with aromas of baked cherries, warm red currants and crushed black plums with touches of cigar box, violets and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, it sports very finely-grained, plush tannins and remains seamlessly refreshing and elegant in the mouth with a seductively nuanced flavor profile, culminating with wonderful length and depth.

VertdeVin

The nose is quite intense, concentrated, fruity and quite powerful. It reveals notes of black fruit associated with slight notes of mocha, Zan as well as discreet notes of tobacco. The palate is fruity, gourmand, elegant and offers a beautiful density, freshness as well as a silky and a bit fleshy matter. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, plum and slight notes of small red berries (redcurrant, raspberry) associated with slight notes of licorice as well as fine touches of mocha and fine toasted touches. Tannins are fine and elegant. Good length and aromatic persistance with juicy fruit as well as a fine toasted / caramelised notes.

Better in the bottle than it was in barrel, which is the sign of all great wines, this is all about its purity of fruit, silky tannins and elegant character. There is not a hard edge to be found, The wine shows a beautiful purity of fruit, coupled with salty tannins and lift. This should drink well for at least the next 20 years or longer. Even though the wine is 15.2%, there is no touch of heat.
