Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Rich aromas of cassis, licorice, cigar wrapper, loamy soil and creamy new oak introduce Bruno Borie's 2019 La Croix de Beaucaillou, a full-bodied, deep and concentrated wine that's rich and lively, with a fleshy core of fruit and plenty of fine, chalky tannin. Like for example Clos du Marquis and Les Forts de Latour, La Croix de Beaucaillou isn't a second wine per se, but rather a cuvée produced from dedicated parcels.
VertdeVin
The nose is elegant, racy and offers a beautiful definition, precision, harmony, intensity and a small power. It reveals notes of blackberry, tonka bean, small notes of violet associated with touches of red berries/crushed raspberry as well as a hint of fleshy/crushed cherry, cardamom, sweet spices and a very discreet hint of camphor. The palate is fruity, mineral, racy and offers freshness, juiciness, tension, a good definition, a beautiful finesse of the grain, a good guideline as well as a beautiful finesse of the grain and precision. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy cassis, juicy/pulpy Boysen berry, small notes of juicy/pulpy wild strawberry associated with touches of small crushed red berries, tonka bean, cardamom as well as fine hints of spices, violet, nutmeg, an imperceptible hint of tea/camphor, coffee/caramelization (in the background). Good length.
