Black cherries, cassis, graphite, spicy oak, and crushed stone all emerge from the 2023 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou, a blend of 58% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and nicely structured, with ripe, polished, building tannins and integrated acidity. This beautifully balanced effort will have 20+ years of overall longevity. Drink 2026-2045.
James Suckling
A wine that shows precision, freshness and structure. Tight and tense, with aromas of fresh blueberries, blue plums, minerals and berries. Restrained and tightly wound, with a medium to full body and a long, tense finish. Very crunchy, with fresh, savory tannins. A chiseled vintage that shows tension and finesse. 58% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 2% petit verdot. Already attractive, but better in two more years.
Druvor
64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot & 4% Petit Verdot
Tasting note
Complex aromas of dark berries, sweet spices, licorice, cigar wrapper and loamy soil introduce the La Croix de Beaucaillou, a medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered wine that exhibits promising depth, concentration and structure in this challenging vintage. It's a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot—in other words, it contains at lot more Cabernet than usual.
