Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 Le Carillon d'Angélus (a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) rocks up with ready-to-go scents of plum preserves, blackberry pie and mulberries, plus hints of spice cake, aniseed and unsmoked cigars. The medium-bodied palate has lovely freshness and an approachable, soft texture framing the crunchy black fruits, finishing long and savory.

On the nose, fruity, aromatic and offers opulence, a beautiful and fine texture, a certain elegance. There are notes of pulpy / bright blackcurrant, blueberry as well as a fine touch of bright raspberry associated with subtle hints of violet, creamy plum as well as vanilla and timut pepper, with wasps of toast and star anise. On the palate, fruity, balanced and offers juiciness, smoothness, richness balanced by palatability / freshness, gourmandize as well as a nice definition, a tight side, richness with finesse, freshness , balanced tension, a delicate texture and an airy yet balanced character. The wine expresses notes of pulpy / juicy blackberry, bright blackcurrant, juicy / elegant raspberry with a touch of sour cherry associated with hints of tonka bean, cardamom, mocha as well as a subtle hint of caramelization and toast. Slight roasted character / persistence and a discreet chew on the finish.
