Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 La Mondotte needs a little coaxing before bursting onto the scene with flamboyant scents of plum pudding, blueberry compote, blackberry pie and red roses. Further swirling reveals provocative, emerging notes of sandalwood, cracked black pepper, baker's chocolate, unsmoked cigars and crushed rocks plus a waft of black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is an exercise in poise and sophistication, featuring the most exquisitely ripe, velvety tannins and amazing freshness, beautifully countering the intense blue and black fruit layers, finishing with epic length and loads of mineral sparks. Breathtaking!
James Suckling
This is really spicy and flavorful with a solid core of fruit and chewy tannins that are polished and very long, providing this wine with super structure and tension.
VertdeVin
On the nose, a nice definition, precision, finesse, richness (in freshness), a nice power (in freshness) and a nice depth. Notes of bright cassis, violet and more slightly small black fruits associated with touches of blueberry, blue fruits as well as hints of star anise, the zan, discreet hints of grey pepper, very discreet hints of black tea, bourbon vanilla and madagascar pepper. On the mouth it is nicely fresh, juicy, elegant and offers gourmandize, a nice definition, precision, a certain tension, an airy side in its power, a nice depth, a nice intensity in freshness as well as a nice finesse of the grain. The wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy cassis, violet and more slightly bright small blue fruits associated with hints of fleshy raspberry, blue plum, bigarreau cherry, fine hints of chocolate, cardamom, graphite as well as discreet hints of black tea and aromatic herbs. The tannins are precise and finely mellow. Good length and persistence.
Falstaff
Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate narrow rim. Black wild berry aromas underlaid with very fine new oak spices, blackberries, ripe cherries with a fragrant floral note and candied orange zest. Intense, juicy red fruit along with cassis and black cherry fruit, fresh, very well-structured, fine tannins, mineral-salty finish, seems amazingly light-footed, ripe cherry fruit on the aftertaste. Rich, opulent, impressive but needs time.
Druvor
75 % Merlot, 25 % Cabernet Franc.
